Use your God-given gifts to develop your talents to serve the world around you. Service you define. Gifts you accept. Talents you develop; no one is born talented. Those of us who have talent developed it from our gifts. And when we ascribe those gifts as blessings from a loving God, we have no choice but to practice in service to a greater good.
I want to leave the scale tipping the side of benevolence. A want a net positive goodwill flow. And I’ve always wanted that. This wish is what Jesus came to teach us. And as we all have the holy spirit able to live through us; we can create good in the world using our gifts.
The more talents we develop, the more successful we are at living our purpose. That can be talent in the workplace, with the family, throughout our communities, and/or the world. The impact on an infant held safely in your arms is vast. We can use our hands and our hearts in this most basic instinctual way. And we can use our hands and our hearts in treating every encounter we pass or person we meet with the same protective, compassionate tenderness as that which we hold a newborn.
The best gift I can give myself is time to develop my talents. That is the highest form of self care. When we care enough about ourselves to be the best version of ourselves, true love is born. By enriching our minds with poetry and prose, fiction and nonfiction we develop our talents. We grow in compassion through interactions with family, friends, colleagues, and customers. We grow when we share our talents in a unified vision for a kind and just world.
I have learned the gifts in life are endless and I can develop many talents to bring to the world. It isn’t the size of the gifts or contributions, but the sincerity in which they are shared.
